I Needed to Remember

She was as articulate 

and effervescent

as I recall.

teenage accolades 

 her companion

silently reminisced

spArkLING moments

they had spent in my 

fourth grade French class.

with her voice

resonated louder

Marie's 

moist red eyes.

And then I knew.

meant to 

them as children
