These Pants Look Totally Polished But They’re Hiding a Big Secret - Us Weekly

Posted: 01 Mar 2019 10:35 AM PST

We're going to let you in on a little secret. We'll never be tired of wearing dresses, ripped boyfriend jeans, fitted trousers and skirts. But there are some days when we just can't even and getting dressed in the morning feels more like a losing battle. Familiar with those days where even our favorite bottoms look less than stellar? Here's the big secret: Leggings!

No matter which side of the "Are leggings actually pants" debate you fall on, there's one particular style of leggings out there that actually are indeed pants — or at least will fool everyone anyways. Even to the most trained eye, these ponte leggings, which are ultra comfortable and beloved by so many reviewers, look just as polished as pants do but feel like our go-to cozy leggings.

The Hue Women's Ponte Leggings are our saving grace when we just want to feel comfy all day, whether it's a long day at work, traveling for hours or simply on-the-go with plenty of errands to run. Why exactly are these so comfortable, you ask? It's mostly because they're stretchy but also partly due to the dense ponte-knit fabric, which is a combination of rayon, nylon and spandex. We also don't have to worry about these being see-through, too!

The best part about this fabric is that it moves with us and has just the right amount of stretch and a comfy mid-rise design. That means these aren't the type of pants that dig into our stomachs all day or highlight any rolls and bumps. There's also no zip closure either, since these ponte pants are a pull-on design.

Afraid to rock pull-on pants in fear of being called out for wearing leggings? No worries! These Hue pants actually have a special design to look just like trousers! Even though there's no traditional zip front fly and button closure, there are front seams that make these bottoms look exactly like a pair of classic jeans. That means no one will know these are slip-on anyways. (Don't worry, we'll keep your secret, too!) There are also faux front pockets as well as patch pockets at the back as another element to ensure these are taken seriously as pants.

We didn't even get to the real best part of these pants yet. They're a classic fit, which means it's that exact fit we love about our skinny jeans without the constricting nature of denim. Hundreds of reviewers agreed, too, highlighting how well these bottoms fit no matter how they were feeling that day!

Since they're a skinny fit, there are also so many ways to style these pants when it comes to our footwear! We can rock ballet flats, just like the fit model did for the brand, and show off our smart shoe choice. We recommend flaunting a statement flat or even a trendy loafer to let our shoes shine.

But flats aren't the only way to make these pants work. We can also select our favorite pair of booties, whether it's a seriously stylish pair to catch attention or something a bit more basic. Pro tip: When wearing skinny pants, choose an ankle bootie in the same hue, this case being black, to make legs appear miles long! We'll always love a good Chelsea bootie, but that's just I!

A snug skinny design also allows for knee-high as well as over-the-knee boots, too! These pants really make it easy since the snugness will prevent any bulking and fit easily inside our boots of choice. Style these up in warmer months, too, with sandals of all heel heights!

These ponte pants from Hue can be ultra casual, too, and allow us to wear our favorite sneakers, too! Whether slip-on sneaks, trusty athletic shoes or a great pair of wedge sneakers for added height, these pants will pair perfectly!

As for what to wear up top, the sky's the limit! No matter the season or how many layers we need to wear based on the weather, these pants will do just the trick! Pair with chunky sweaters, a comfy cardigan or even just a long-sleeve T-shirt in the colder months. When it's a bit warmer, go with a band tee and a plaid shirt tied at the waist. For the office, these pants look extra polished with a great Portofino shirt or our go-to button-down tops.

For those just warming up to tricking everyone into thinking these ponte pants aren't super-comfy like our leggings, style with a tunic length shirt to high the slip-on design. Just remember, if anyone asks if these are leggings, give them a lesson in the secret world of ponte pants!

26 Office-Ready Pants That’ll Spice Up Your Work Wardrobe - GQ Magazine

Posted: 28 Feb 2019 11:50 AM PST

Last week on Instagram, our pal John Mayer unveiled his new philosophy for dressing well: always start with your pants. That's especially wise advice when it comes to getting dressed for the office. It's pretty tough to get a fit off, after all, when you're half-heartedly pulling on the same fusty charcoal flannels and plain jane khakis five days a week. If you're looking to level up your workplace drip, you're gonna need to diversify the portfolio: we're talking wide-wale cords, big-mood tartans, and far-out colors—the kind of trousers that'll make your bosses stop and think, "By George, now there's a young man with direction." Here are 26 style-raising, promotion-worthy pairs for every dress code and budget.

Oscars 2019: Billy Porter's Christian Siriano gown, women in pants steal red carpet - Quartz

Posted: 24 Feb 2019 04:59 PM PST

It's not easy to stand out on the Oscars red carpet, where the powers of designers, stylists, makeup artists, and hair stylists combine to help Hollywood A-listers dress for attention.

A full-skirted gown is not usually sufficient means for creating a notable fashion moment. But it is if you're a man.

And that's how Billy Porter—who appropriately stars in the FX shows Pose—stole the spotlight during the early hours of the pre-ceremony fashion parade. The actor wore a velvet gown by Christian Siriano that was a fitted tuxedo on top, and a floor-sweeping skirt on the bottom.

Several female actresses also dressed to upend the boring gender norms of the red carpet, wearing pants and suits instead of gowns. Eighth Grade's Elsie Fisher wore Thom Browne, Amy Poehler wore all-black Alberta Ferretti, and Awkwafina wore sparkling DSquared. Wouldn't it be nice if no norms were the new norm?
