Apparently there are people who cannot wear red or purple eyeshadow without their eyes being irritated. Many people write this off as being allergic to a brand rather then a color but it has all to do with the ingredients in the purple shadows.
Purple and red are made using Carmine. Wait for this, a color taken from a bug. A scale beetle native to South America and Mexico. It's called a cochineal. The dye from this is taken from the remains of the bug.
